Herbs
- Butters - Oils - Waxes - Essential Oils - Soap Bases
Herbs
Alfalfa
Leaf - Is rich in vitamins and minerals. It's known
to help relieve fatigue, pain from inflammation of arthritis and rheumatism and
to relieve muscle tenderness.


Alkanet Root - Provides
a natural dark tent to bath items.


Arnica Flowers - Arnica
is known for its ability to heal bruises, sprains, muscle aches, and deep muscle
pains.
Arnica
should not be used on broken skin.



Arrowroot Powder -
Give
products a silky feel when added to a milk bath. It is also a good substitute
for talc.


Calendula
-
Calendula is known for its wonderful ability to
heal broken skin, and wounds. It's also known to help ease the pain of stings,
sprains and wounds.


Chamomile -
Chamomile is known for its skin soothing and anti-inflammatory
properties. Its been known to heal irritated skin, eczema, abrasions, psoriasis,
chicken pox, and radiation burns.


Comfrey Root
-
Helps to treat bruises, swelling, muscle aches,
and pains, and wounds. Comfrey root should not be used on broken skin.



Elder Flowers - Are known to
help improve complexion and relieve eczema, acne, and psoriasis. It's mildly astringent
to the skin.


Eucalyptus Leaf -
Is known for its ability to help fight colds and flus. Its also known for its
anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. Eucalyptus leaves have been used in
chest rubs, and bath teas.


Flax Seeds - Are
high in vitamins, minerals and EFAs. Its used in skin care for its exfoliating
properties. It's also soothing and softening to the skin.


Ginger
Root -
is known to help relieve aches and pains


Lavender
-
Lavender
oil has been know to help do many things. A Few drops in a foot bath is known
to help relieve fatigue. It's also known to help with relieve toothache, neuralgia,
sprains, and rheumatism. It's known to help aid stress and promote relaxation.
It's also a known to be very soothing.



Lemon Peel - acts as an astringent
its also known to help acne prone skin and to help add fragrance to bath items.



Licorice root - Is known to treat
burns, inflammation, absecces, boils, and wounds. It's also known to be good for
general skin problems.


Marshmallow - Marshmallow
root is full of vitamins and minerals. It has been known to help soothe irritated
skin, eczema, and wounds.


Mullien - Mullien
flowers are known to help reduce inflammation, muscle achees, bruises, and sprains.

Mullien oil has been known to be used to help with earache, bruises, mucus membrane
inflammation, eczema, mullien oil is also known to be a valuable destroyer of
germs. It is also know to help reduce inflammation, and muscle aches. Added to
vinegars it helps to relieve dry itchy skin.



Myrrh - Myrrh is known as being
astringent, healing. Tonic and stimulant.

Mugwort

Mugwort is known to help ease mentrual cramps when used in bath teas.
It is also said to ease tension and aid depression. Also when used in bath teas
it is said to help bring on late periods and to relieve sore aching muscles.


Nettle - Nettle
is said to be good for treating itchy skin conditions and eczema. It has been
used as a deep cleanser and known to be useful for oily skin. It's also known
to help irritated skin.
Neem Leaves
-
Is known to be anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal. It has been used for centuries
for these purposes. Neem powder in a face pack is good for acne prone skin, added
to salt scrubs for skin problems such as eczema, and psoriasis. It makes a good
gardeners hand scrub when mixed with corn meal for its anti-bacterial properties.
It is also known to be good for chicken pox and skin eruptions when made into
an infusion for the bath.
Orange Peels -
is known to act

as an astringent, also adds fragrance to bath items.

Passion
Flower -
Is known to help burns and inflamed skin when used externally.
It is also known to help irritated skin. Used in bath teas it can be soothing.


Pennyroyal - A member of the mint family
you must use caution when using the essential oil. (We do not use pennyroyal essential
oil in our products) The herb is safer to use. It is a natural insect repellent
and is known to be good to help repel fleas.

Peppermint
-
I know for its stimultating and soothing properties. In teas its known
to help relieve upset stomachs. Oil infusions used in balms, butters, lotions,
and creams is known to help upset stomach and menstrual cramps when gently rubbed
on the abdomen. Peppermint has a wonderful cooling effect in summer time blends.
Peppermints Aroma is very relieving to headaches.


Plantain
-
Plantain is know for its ability to help relieve
dry skin conditions like eczema. It is known for its anti-inflammatory abilities.
It's a mild astringent and helps to heal wounds, cuts, burns, lesions, insect
bites and more.

Are a excellent source of vitamin c.

Rosemary
-
Rosemary is energizing, Its has a wake me up effect when added to bath
and body items. when used in massage oils it helps to relieve muscular tension,
stiffness, and pain. Rosemary is also good to help with memory and concentration.

You
should use caution if you are epileptic or prone to seizures. Look up your information
on rosemary or see a herbalist or aromatherapist.

Sandalwood
- Known to be Anti-septic, wound healing.
It has been used to treat skin diseases, dry skin, acne, premature wrinkling,
and external infections.


Slippery Elm -
Is known to be good for treating burns, boils, wounds, abcesses,
and it is also known for its emollient, and soothing qualities.

Spearmint
-
spearmint has a mellower, minty aroma then
peppermint. Peppermint has more therapeutic properties.


St.
John's Wort -
Is known for its abilities to heal
sunburns, burns, wounds, and its also known for its anti-inflammatory properties.
Its been known to help muscle aches.


Verbena Leaf
(Vervain) -
Is known for its anti-inflammatory properties,
also its useful in easing muscular aches and pains.

Butters
Aloe
- Helps to aid in fast hydration of dry skin that
is caused by eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, wind burn, sun burn, and for general
chapped skin.


Apricot Kernal - Contains
all the natural properties of the oil. its known to moisturize and soothe the
skin and help mature or sensitive skin.


Avocado -
Is known to have some natural suncare properties and to be a very rich, moisturzing
treatment for the skin and hair. (We do not use avocado in any of our products
due to my husbands allergy to avocados)


Cocoa - Great
to be used for helping to reduce the formation of stretch marks during pregnancy
by keeping the skin supple.It's known to heal and moisturize skin that is exposed
to the elements. Cocoa butter has been used for centuries in africa as a skin
care product.

Illipe - This butter
is obtained from the nuts of the shorea stenoptera tree. It's known to help moisturize
the skin and restore elasticity. It also helps to make a hard bar of soap.



Kokum - Kokum butter is one of our favorites.
It is from the indian tree Garcinia indica. It is known to help heal ulcerations,
fissures of the lips, feet, hands and soften the skin. It is known to help reduce
degeneration of the skin cells and helps to restore elasticity.


Mango - Obtained from the kernals of the mango
tree. It's known to help reduce degeneration of the skin cells and to restore
elasticity. It has a high content of steric acid. This makes it similar to cocoa
butter. Its known to help lend protection against the sun, helps prevent formation
of wrinkles and is also known to help prevent drying of the skin.

Olive
- contains the same properties as olive oil (see
olive oil)


Sal- Sal butter comes
from the fruit kernals of the sal tree. Its known to be a good emollient and prevents
drying of the skin. Sal butter is also known to lend some protection against the
sun.


Shea - For thousands of years
african healers have used shea butter as a treatment for dry aging skin. Its known
for its ability to help protect the skin from the damaging effects of the sun
while repairing cellular degeneration. Its also known to help moisturize and retian
elasticity of the skin.


Shealoe-

Shealoe butter is a mixture of shea butter and aloe butters. This blend is known
for its healing and moisturizing emollient properties. It can be used as is to
soothe dry irritated skin.
